Gboyega has close to 18 years’ worth of combined experience which represents over a decade in the banking, communications and financial sector and the past 8 years in project management, climate change and environment, Sustainable finance, research and development, energy, circular economy, sustainability and consortium engagements. His past work experience include: Environ2000 Consultancy, Standard Chartered Bank, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Media Strategies Limited, Omoluabi Mortgage Bank PLC (Now Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc), Alpha Morgan Capital Managers Limited, FMDQ Plc (Seconded to Financial Centre for Sustainability, Lagos), Enviromax Global Resources Limited.
Gboyega is an EcoDistricts Accredited Professional; one of the Nigerian Country Representatives of African Circular Economy Network (ACEN), Nigeria Chapter; He is Member, Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), Sustainability Commission Policy Group; Member, African Circular Economy Alliance (ACEA), Built Environment and Packaging Working Group. He is a trained Climate Reality Leader under the Climate Reality Project lead by former Vice President AL Gore
Gboyega has worked on several high profiled National and international project with interventions on circular economy, energy transition, climate change and environment which include: Energy Transition: Industrialisation and Job Creation (UKAMA – IDDRI and CCCD-AEFUNAI Project), Technical Lead, Allied for Climate Transformation by 2025 (ACT2025) (World Resources Institute and CCCD-AEFUNAI project), Project Lead – Post COVID 19 Green Recovery Transition in West Africa (ECF and SPP Project), the Circular Business Platform Lagos (Consulate of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Lagos and Holland Circular Hotspot Project), and Mobilising Investment for Clean Energy in Nigeria (World Economic Forum (WEF) and Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Associations (REEE-A) Project).
Gboyega has served as Mentor, panellist, contributor and keynote speaker at programmes organised by UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), UN Climate Technology Centre (UNCTC), The Office of the Sustainable Development Goals and Investment, Lagos State Government, WeForGood International, Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative (GECCI) GET Consortium, African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU-ECOSOCC), and United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) amongst many. His opinions on salient environmental and development issues have been featured in The Guardian, Tribune, Vanguard, The Cable, The Nation newspaper including other online sources.
Gboyega has continued to work at the intersection of private business firms, Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), International NGOs, public sector concerns and international development interventions. Gboyega has completed carefully selected courses in Policy Coherence and Agenda 2030; Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG); Energy transition; International Development; Nature-based Solutions; Design Thinking; Climate Change and Paris Agreement; and Circular economy and has attended other relevant local and international workshops.
Gboyega is a recipient of the North Rhine-Westphalia State scholarship to United Nations Summer Academy 2020. He received his B.Sc. in Zoology and M.Sc. in Zoology (with bias for Environmental Toxicology and Pollution Management) from the University of Lagos. He has completed the Leadership Programme for Sustainable Waste Management at the Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University, Lagos.
